Crisis is a national charity dedicated to ending homelessness and campaigning for change. They provide a variety of services to aid single homeless people, including classes to improve employability.

One of these classes is a gardening class, for which I am lucky enough to volunteer as a teaching assistant. This role has given me an insight into the social impact a landscape can have and the therapeutic effects of maintaining a garden.

The class takes place weekly in the Braidwood Centre community garden and has been a fantastic learning experience for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the class and wanted to make the most out of the opportunity.

The close proximity of the garden to Arthur’s Seat and the surrounding parkland provided us with a great opportunity to encourage more wildlife onto the site. Which was one of our main driving factors.
